The cottage has been lovingly restored in recent years and offers everything you need for a quiet, simple and natural life. On the ground floor, there is a small vestibule with luggage storage in the attic and a very cosy kitchen-diner separated by a curtain, offering fantastic views over El Castillo, the private garden, the valley and the Atlantic Ocean. A staircase leads to the alcove, which offers a cosy and snug place to sleep with two beds and equally wonderful views.
In the semi-basement, which is accessed via an external staircase, there is a bedroom or guest room, as well as a spacious bathroom with a floor-level shower.
On the south side is a ‘barbacoa’, the outdoor kitchen that is indispensable for our lifestyle, with a beautiful seating area and a rustic cupboard for the washing machine.
The approximately 3,000 m² garden offers several terraces connected by well-designed stairs, many almond trees that not only enchant with their blossoms, but also offer ample opportunities for almond cakes made from fresh almonds (to die for!) and other pastries. Some of them could also be grafted to produce apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, damsons or mirabelle plums. The property also offers plenty of space for your own planting dreams, right up to a self-sufficient finca, as well as a cave that serves as a storage room.
The house is heated by a beautifully installed wood-burning stove, which can be easily fuelled with wood from the garden. Cooking and domestic water heating are powered by bottled gas, while lighting is provided by solar or gravity lamps. The washing machine is powered by a powerful petrol generator with an electric starter, which is stored in a small brick room when not in use. Connection to the public electricity grid, telephone and internet is easily possible, as the necessary lines are already in place. The house is connected to the public drinking water network.
The house is registered as a residential property and can therefore be used as a permanent residence or as a holiday home. It is easily accessible via a paved side road with a normal car. One to two parking spaces belong to the property.
